A rainwater harvesting system for Pioneer Park: help our neighbors in Cox's Bazar
Volunteers in Cox's Bazar are raising $400 for a rainwater harvesting system at Pioneer Park.
🇧🇩 Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Bangladesh832 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 489 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $300
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $20
Glad we found this place.
Updates from Ayesha
Good news. Because of your gifts ($172 in total) I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
