A rainwater harvesting system for Lotus Park: help our neighbors in Coimbatore
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at Lotus Park that will serve 190 neighbors.
🇮🇳 Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India899 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 190 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $240
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $20
• Tools hire and delivery: $95
Thank you so much.

thinking of you, Nilesh. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless
Thanks for sharing this, Nilesh. Hope this works out for you. Don't give up.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nilesh!
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $240. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
best of luck, Nilesh. More neighborhoods should do this. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Half-Way Tree.

Shared this with my family. After 24 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything
