A rainwater harvesting system for Freedom Primary School: help our neighbors in Addis Ababa
Volunteers in Addis Ababa are raising $400 for a rainwater harvesting system at Freedom Primary School.
🇪🇹 Ethiopia1,055 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 195 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $290
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $25
Thank you so much.
