Ann Arbor
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,950. It will serve about 408 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,950 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $520 • Tools hire and delivery: $175 • Materials: $2,255 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Updates from Yusuf

  1. Thank you all. We're at 26% now ($772). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for tools hire and delivery is now scheduled.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 29% funded and the plan for safety equipment and signage is now scheduled.

  3. Update from Ann Arbor: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 12% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

            • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 25 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Seoul.
