A rainwater harvesting system for Baobab Primary School: help our neighbors in Tarkwa
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $400 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,210 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $90, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 260 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $400 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Materials: $350
• Safety equipment and signage: $20
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Praying for you, Beatrice. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Put this on a community board in Bogotá this morning. All the best
Thanks for sharing this, Beatrice. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together. All the best.
This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Novosibirsk.
