A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Wudil
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $550 for materials.
🇳🇬 Nigeria1,188 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 283 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $430
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $55
With deep gratitude,
Kehinde

Best of luck, Kehinde. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Take care
