A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Uberlândia
Volunteers in Uberlândia are raising $950 for a rainwater harvesting system at Union Park.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $950.
It will serve about 176 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $950 goes:
• Materials: $760
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $40
• Tools hire and delivery: $120
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Juliana!
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($760) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Let me know if you want more detail.
sending good thoughts, Juliana. Hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Zanzibar City
Thanks for sharing this. More neighborhoods should do this. I'll check back for the next update. Blessings.
Best of luck. Shared this with my family. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Athens
projects like this are what make a place worth living in. It's not much but it's yours. All the best
Thinking of you and your family. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Praying for you, Juliana. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I have a 11 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
