A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Strasbourg
Volunteers in Strasbourg are raising $3,000 for a rainwater harvesting system at the old Maple bus depot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Maple bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,000.
It will serve about 344 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $270
• Materials: $2,400
• Tools hire and delivery: $330
