A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Nashik
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $400 for materials.
🇮🇳 Nashik, Maharashtra, India1,475 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 142 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $400 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Materials: $300
• Tools hire and delivery: $55
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
