A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Magelang
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at Jacaranda Primary School that will serve 150 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 150 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $240
• Permits and inspections: $60
• Safety equipment and signage: $40
• Tools hire and delivery: $110
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
