A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Daegu
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $1,900 for materials.
🇰🇷 South Korea1,275 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,900.
It will serve about 505 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,900 goes:
• Materials: $1,250
• Permits and inspections: $85
• Safety equipment and signage: $270
• Tools hire and delivery: $295
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
