A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Caloocan
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $550 for materials.
🇵🇭 Caloocan, Metro Manila, Philippines1,697 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 491 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $400
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $120
Thank you so much.
