A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Berlin
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $2,050 for materials.
🇩🇪 Germany192 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Sycamore bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,050.
It will serve about 516 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Materials: $910
• Permits and inspections: $260
• Safety equipment and signage: $390
• Tools hire and delivery: $490
Thanks for reading all this.
