A prosthetic leg for Wekesa: help Wekesa move freely

A prosthetic leg would give Wekesa independence - we're $850 away.

Wekesa lives with cerebral palsy. The occupational therapist at the Thika Mobility Clinic has assessed him and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $850. His current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 6 weeks. With the right equipment Wekesa could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $850 goes: • prosthetic leg: $680 • Fitting and training sessions: $60 • Delivery and set-up: $30 • First-year servicing plan: $80 If you're reading this, thank you. - Mugisha

Updates from Mugisha

  1. Small update. $140 so far, the plan for first-year servicing plan is now scheduled.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($60 in total) I made the first payment toward prosthetic leg. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
