I live with muscular dystrophy. My occupational therapist at the London Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $6,500.
My current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 5 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $6,500 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $280
• First-year servicing plan: $220
• prosthetic leg: $6,000
