A prosthetic leg for Abebe: help me move freely
Abebe needs a prosthetic leg that the health system won't fund; the cost is $400.
🇪🇹 Ethiopia1,300 views
I live with a rare neuromuscular condition. My occupational therapist at Adama General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $400.
My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 5 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $400 goes:
• prosthetic leg: $350
• Fitting and training sessions: $25
• Delivery and set-up: $15
• First-year servicing plan: $10
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Take care, Abebe. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Greetings from Bacolod.
sending strength, Abebe. Hope the doctors have good news. Take care.
