A playground for the Freedom community hall: help our neighbors in Paarl
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $850 for materials.
🇿🇦 South Africa1,046 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $850.
It will serve about 479 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $850 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
• Materials: $680
• Tools hire and delivery: $100
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
