A playground for Sycamore Park: help our neighbors in Stellenbosch
Volunteers in Stellenbosch are raising $900 for a playground at Sycamore Park.
🇿🇦 Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa1,535 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $170, and the remaining cost is $900.
It will serve about 460 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $900 goes:
• Materials: $570
• Permits and inspections: $60
• Safety equipment and signage: $125
• Tools hire and delivery: $145
Thanks for being kind about this.

More neighborhoods should do this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
Sending strength. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Multan this morning.
Hang in there. Your post was clear and honest. Love from Bang Khen
