Knoxville
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,450, and the remaining cost is $4,500. It will serve about 246 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $4,500 goes: • Materials: $3,400 • Permits and inspections: $260 • Safety equipment and signage: $510 • Tools hire and delivery: $330 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Updates from Sophie

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 10% funded and the plan for materials is now scheduled.

  2. Update from Knoxville: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 6% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us. - Sophie
