A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Wollongong
A community-led a playground at the old Baobab bus depot that will serve 273 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,050.
It will serve about 273 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Materials: $1,150
• Permits and inspections: $370
• Safety equipment and signage: $280
• Tools hire and delivery: $250
