A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Saint Petersburg
A community-led a playground at the Pioneer vacant lot that will serve 318 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,150.
It will serve about 318 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Materials: $840
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $105
• Tools hire and delivery: $160
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
