A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Peshawar

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 217 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Materials: $225 Thanks for reading all this. - Yasir
