A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Mesa

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,600. It will serve about 94 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,600 goes: • Materials: $2,000 • Safety equipment and signage: $200 • Permits and inspections: $400 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Julián
