A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Marrakesh
Volunteers in Marrakesh are raising $900 for a playground at the Sycamore vacant lot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $900.
It will serve about 489 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $900 goes:
• Materials: $670
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
• Tools hire and delivery: $75
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
