A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Laredo
Volunteers in Laredo are raising $1,850 for a playground at Harmony Park.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,850.
It will serve about 90 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,850 goes:
• Materials: $790
• Permits and inspections: $260
• Safety equipment and signage: $410
• Tools hire and delivery: $390
Thank you so much.

hang in there, Michael. This could happen to any of us. Sent it to 33 people at work. Thinking of Laredo.
