A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Lalitpur
A community-led a playground at Freedom Park that will serve 85 neighbors.
🇳🇵 Lalitpur, Bagmati, Nepal361 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $200.
It will serve about 85 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $200 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $15
• Materials: $150
• Permits and inspections: $35
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

praying for you, Maya. I hope things turn around soon
Best of luck, Maya. Hope you get there. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Kathmandu.
Rooting for you. I hope things turn around soon. After 6 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything
