A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Lahore

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $110, and the remaining cost is $150. It will serve about 518 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $150 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $65 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Safety equipment and signage: $50 I hope life is good to you.
