For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $850. It will serve about 108 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $850 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $250 • Permits and inspections: $280 • Tools hire and delivery: $320 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Caroline

  • Keep going, Caroline. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from San Jose

      • Hope things get better soon, Caroline. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My neighbor in Soweto donated after I showed her your page. Take care
