A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Kelowna
Volunteers in Kelowna are raising $2,800 for a playground at the Liberty health centre yard.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $2,800.
It will serve about 145 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Materials: $1,900
• Permits and inspections: $210
• Safety equipment and signage: $180
• Tools hire and delivery: $510
