A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Kandy

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 217 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $250 • Permits and inspections: $60 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $100 Thanks for reading all this.
