A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Ikeja

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 236 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $180 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $20 • Tools hire and delivery: $55 I hope life is good to you.
