A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Gaziantep

Volunteers in Gaziantep are raising $850 for a playground at the old Liberty bus depot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Liberty bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $850. It will serve about 368 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $850 goes: • Materials: $580 • Permits and inspections: $85 • Safety equipment and signage: $120 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
