A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Freiburg
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $2,000 for materials.
🇩🇪 Germany2,241 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,000.
It will serve about 477 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Materials: $1,550
• Safety equipment and signage: $270
• Tools hire and delivery: $180
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Keep going. This could happen to any of us. Thinking of Freiburg.
Sending good thoughts, Greta. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Knoxville
Thanks for sharing this, Greta. This could happen to any of us. God bless
Take care, Greta. Shared this with my family. My neighbor in Allentown donated after I showed her your page. All the best
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Love from Seattle.
best of luck, Greta. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from St. Petersburg
