For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,800. It will serve about 479 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,800 goes: • Materials: $1,850 • Permits and inspections: $300 • Safety equipment and signage: $380 • Tools hire and delivery: $270 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
