A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Bahir Dar

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $500 for materials.

Bahir Dar
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500. It will serve about 569 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $500 goes: • Materials: $430 • Permits and inspections: $10 • Safety equipment and signage: $50 • Tools hire and delivery: $10 Thanks for being kind about this.
