A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Ann Arbor
Volunteers in Ann Arbor are raising $2,500 for a playground at the Cedar vacant lot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,450, and the remaining cost is $2,500.
It will serve about 570 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $430
• Tools hire and delivery: $380
• Materials: $1,690
Glad we found this place.
