A partial thyroidectomy for Shuai: covering what insurance won't
After a benign brain tumor, Shuai was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Shuai was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in August. The surgeon at Reading Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,050, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $2,300 short.
my son has been in and out of Reading Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,050 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Shuai struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Shuai won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.

It's all in the list in the story. post-operative medication is the big one at $370, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. I'll keep the page updated.
