Luis was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in March. The surgeon at Toledo Community Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $11,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $7,900 short.
my husband has been in and out of Toledo Community Hospital since March. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $11,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Luis struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Luis won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
