Leonardo was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in March. The surgeon at San Francisco Community Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,000, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,600 short.
my father has been in and out of San Francisco Community Hospital since March. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Leonardo struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Leonardo won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $5,600 goes:
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $240
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,400
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $2,250
• Post-operative medication: $320
• Physiotherapy sessions: $390
