Kavita was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in December. The surgeon at Saint Anne Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $800, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $600 short.
my mother has been in and out of Saint Anne Hospital since December. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $800 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Kavita struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Kavita won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
