A partial thyroidectomy for Ife: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled a partial thyroidectomy in November is out of reach without help covering $700 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections. My surgeon at Saint Mary Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,400, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $700 short.
Doctors at Saint Mary Hospital told me a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a school bus driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,400 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a school bus driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
