Haritha was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in July. The surgeon at New Delhi Orthopedic Institute recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,200, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $950 short. my wife has been in and out of New Delhi Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,200 is more than we can find. While we wait, Haritha struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks.
