A partial thyroidectomy for Dinda: covering what insurance won't
After an aortic valve defect, Dinda was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In April I was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect. My surgeon at Bogor General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for July. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $630, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $500 short.
Doctors at Bogor General Hospital told me an aortic valve defect will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a seamstress, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $630 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a seamstress have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $500 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $40
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $105
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $355
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
