Lerato lives with cerebral palsy. The occupational therapist at Ekurhuleni General Hospital has assessed her and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $650.
Her current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment Lerato could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $650 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $35
• First-year servicing plan: $45
