In July an inspector told me that my home has faulty wiring that trips the power and smells of burning. It's a safety risk for me and my two small children. The landlord has refused to act, and quotes of $1,050 are beyond us. I'm looking for a licensed electrician who may be able to donate a few hours or do the repair at cost. I can cover the parts, which I estimate at $150. The job should take about three hours. I'll make sure someone is home and will provide refreshments. I can share the inspector's written report on request. If you're an electrician and can help, or know a program that assists with this sort of repair, I'd really appreciate it. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Sending love, Neelam. This could happen to any of us.

    • Keep going, Neelam. Hope this works out for you. After 13 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything

      • Rooting for you. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.

          • It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Johannesburg but we're thinking of you.
