A fresh start in Springfield: help the Abdi family resettle
After fleeing Somalia, the Abdi family has arrived in Springfield with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left Somalia 12 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Springfield. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in May.
I was a pharmacist in Somalia, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $2,150
• Language classes and bus passes: $280
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $570
Thank you for reading my story.

Shared it with a few friends. My neighbor in Brooklyn donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Springfield.
Hope this works out for you. Thinking of Springfield!
