Saint-Étienne
My family left Afghanistan 10 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Saint-Étienne. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in March. I was a farmer in Afghanistan, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. Funds are managed by the Saint-Étienne Refugee Support Network, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf. Where the $3,150 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $1,700 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $570 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $360 • Language classes and bus passes: $280 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $240 I hope life is good to you. - Thierry

  • It takes guts to ask. Well done. Please keep us posted. Love from Kediri.

    • Best of luck, Thierry. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My husband and I read this together. All the best.
