A fresh start in Regensburg: help the Nguyen family resettle

After fleeing Ukraine, the Nguyen family has arrived in Regensburg with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Regensburg
My family left Ukraine 8 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Regensburg. We're a family of seven and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in November. I was an engineer in Ukraine, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. Funds are managed by the Regensburg Welcome Table charity, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf. Where the $3,100 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $1,350 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $880 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $320 • Language classes and bus passes: $310 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $240 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Updates from Hans

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($2,494 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Quick update: $1,645 raised so far (53%). I made the first payment toward rent deposit and first month. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  3. Update from Regensburg: I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts. We're at 34% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
