After fleeing Yemen, the Mukiza family has arrived in Nuremberg with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Nuremberg
My family left Yemen 11 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Nuremberg. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in November. I was a teacher in Yemen, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $3,200 goes: • Phone and internet for school and job search: $175 • Rent deposit and first month: $1,400 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $450 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,175 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Monika

Thanks for sharing this, Monika. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Jakarta Barat this morning. God bless.

    • hope things get better soon, Monika. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

      • sending strength. Hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

        • You're not alone, Monika. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. God bless
