Comilla
My family left Sudan 12 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Comilla. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in February. I was an engineer in Sudan, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $550 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $270 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $100 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $85 • Language classes and bus passes: $65 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $30 Thanks for reading all this.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Lipi

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rent deposit and first month comes first ($270) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks, that means a lot.

  • Good luck. This could happen to any of us. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too. God bless.

    • Rooting for you. I hope things turn around soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.

      • Take care. Hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from St. Petersburg

        • Thanks for sharing this, Lipi. Your post was clear and honest. I have a 5 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Take care!

          • Thinking of you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings
